We are currently seeking a Lead Data Modeler to become an integral part of our Chief Data Office function. In this role, you will report to the Chief Data Officer and lead a team of talented Data Engineers. Your expertise will contribute to realizing our vision of shaping a cleaner, fairer, and more affordable energy future.
As the Lead Data Modeler, you’ll collaborate within a diverse team of data and analytics leaders, as well as fellow data experts. Together, you’ll spearhead the development and management of impactful data products that empower our organization to make informed decisions, drive growth initiatives, enhance operational efficiency, and elevate our data maturity.
Responsibilities:
– Craft, implement, and meticulously document innovative data architecture and data modeling solutions, encompassing relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases. Your solutions will underpin enterprise information management, business intelligence, machine learning, data science, and other strategic endeavors.
– Collaborate with Domain experts to construct insightful conceptual data models, support the definition of physical models, and streamline data flows.
– Ensure adherence to stringent data governance and security standards while refining, enhancing, and operationalizing integrated data strategies. These strategies will expedite data accessibility, encourage data reuse, and significantly reduce time-to-solution for data and analytics projects.
– Play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between IT and the broader business, advocating for effective data management practices and fostering a deeper comprehension of data modeling’s role in data and analytics. Engage with key stakeholders, IT professionals, and subject matter experts to strategize and implement optimal data science and analytics solutions.
– Foster trust among stakeholders by ensuring the reliability of data used for decision-making processes.
– Collaborate closely with Platform Engineering teams to drive automation through expert guidance in data modeling. You will champion innovative tools, techniques, and architectures to automate routine data preparation and integration tasks, thereby minimizing errors and boosting productivity.
– Formulate architectural standards, guidelines, and best practices related to Data Modeling, all while staying attuned to industry trends and technological advancements.
Requirements:
– Proven track record in building, leading, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in dynamic business settings.
– Adeptness in creative problem-solving and collaborative teamwork. You will engage with data consumers to refine data models for optimal deployment in production.

Technical Expertise:
– Proficiency in integrating diverse datasets, encompassing ETL/ELT, data replication/CDC, message-oriented data movement, API design and access, data virtualization, and streaming data.
– Profound understanding of conceptual data models.
– Hands-on experience in defining both logical and physical data models.
– Skill in reviewing and adapting existing systems for cross-compatibility.
– Expertise in implementing data strategies and developing physical data models.
– Experience with databases such as [SQL, PL/SQL, others] for relational databases, and [NoSQL/Hadoop oriented databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, others] for non-relational databases.
– Familiarity with analytics and BI tools like [Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI, others] for data discovery.
– Knowledge of containerization techniques (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
– Proficiency in guiding data science teams to optimize models and algorithms, as well as determining metadata querying requirements.
– Must be experienced with Data modeling tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio.
– Ability to manage data access, security, and implement security solutions.
– Collaborative engagement with business intelligence and analytics teams for database design and modeling.
